Celtic/jazz pioneers Carmina launch their new album 'Late Light' with a cast of stellar guests playing traditional and new original songs.
Bristol-based Celtic Jazz band Carmina, founded by award-winning song-writers Pippa Marland and Rob King, have had a long career of performing with some of the finest musicians from the traditional Irish and contemporary jazz worlds. This gig will present material from their latest album ‘Late Light’, in which Pippa and Rob have returned to their more traditional roots, offering new arrangements of songs from the English, Scottish and Irish traditions, together with their latest original compositions, including the title track 'Late Light'
Musicians:
Pippa Marland (vocals, saxophones, whistles)
Rob King (acoustic guitar, bodhrán)
This gig also features three of the most outstanding musicians in this specialised field, who have made invaluable contributions to this new album:
Diarmaid Moynihan (uilleann pipes, Irish whistles) - one of the most respected of the current Irish pipers, who has played with Carmina since their early days of touring in Ireland;
David Gordon (piano, synth) – a highly-respected world-class jazz and classical pianist whose career began in Bristol and has now achieved global prominence;
Paul Bradley (vocals, guitar) – Belfast-born, now Bristol based, guitarist of exceptional technical and improvisatory ability, whose wonderful singing perfectly complements Pippa’s lead vocals.
